Juraj Collinásy was born on June 29, 1907 in Szerencs, he died on November 22, 1963 in Košice. In r. 1924-27 studied at the preparatory evening art school of E. Krón in Košice; in r. 1927-29 during basic military service privately with V. Beneš in Prague. He started as an amateur photographer, and constantly drew. He devoted himself to portraits, genre painting, landscapes, where he used the effective use of colors with a decorative touch. In r. In 1933-34 he was awarded a bronze medal at the International Kerstsalon Iris in Antwerp. He exhibited in Košice (1949), Bratislava (1950, 1958), Kežmarok (1957), Bardejov, Prešov (1979).
